NDP’s Glover demands Ford government halt demolition at Ontario Place

TORONTO – Ontario NDP MPP Chris Glover (Spadina – Fort York) is calling on the province to halt all further demolition at Ontario Place until the Ontario Place Protector’s legal challenge to Rebuilding Ontario Place Act is resolved.

“Bill 154 gives the government unprecedented power to commit acts of misfeasance, misrepresentation, bad faith, and breach of trust with impunity,” said Glover. “Ontario Place Protectors is rightfully fighting back. It is an attack on the democratic rights of all Ontarians to take our government to court when they break the law. This is about much more than just saving Ontario Place; this is now about our democratic rights.”

Ontario Place Protectors have announced they are seeking an injunction against the provincial government regarding the constitutionality of Rebuilding Ontario Place Act and to stop the demolition that the government started on the West Island over the weekend.
