Stiles: People need a government they can trust to build the transit they need

QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP Leader, is raising questions following an investigation showing select developers benefiting from Ford’s planning decisions for the Yonge Subway Extension and worse outcomes for commuters and residents.

“Let’s be clear – we need to build this subway extension, and we need more transit options and housing density near those transit stations. But with Doug Ford, what’s good for the people will always take a backseat to the priorities of his friends and donors. Now, the credibility of a major public infrastructure project is being called into question.

"Seeing the same developers who profited from the Greenbelt scheme benefit from this project does not inspire confidence in the future of this project. People deserve to know why a route was chosen that would ensure worse outcomes for commuters but higher profits for developers with connections to Doug Ford and his party.”
